Export Credit Guarantee Corporation: latest in Current Affairs
The Cabinet will spend 4,400 crore rupees in Export Credit Guarantee Corporation of India Ltd (ECGC) to assist exporters and banks over a five-year period. At a press conference, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated that the actual currency and proposed Initial Public Offer (IPO) will raise ECGC’s underwriting capacity to 88,000 crores and increase exports by 5.28 lakh crore over the next five years. It would generate 59 lakh new employment, 2.6 lakh of which will be in the informal sector. This move is one of a succession of export-related programs and efforts put in place by the government in recent years. Cabinet has also approved the initial public offering (IPO) of Export Credit Guarantee Corporation Ltd. on the stock exchange. By 2025-26, the Company aims to raise its maximum liabilities from 1.00 lakh crore rupees to 2.03 lakh crore rupees.

38th PRAGATI Meeting: Daily GK Current Affairs
